The Lightkeeper (jam edition)
The Lightkeeper is a short (1-5 minutes) atmospheric walking sim made for the Uplifting Game Jam, and talks about care, memory, and keeping things going.
You are Aldric. For nearly forty years you have lived in this castle, keeping things in order.
Tonight, a noise in the distance wakes you up.
What can it be?
You decide to light the candles.
Room by room, match by match, through dark corridors, creaking floors, and the dust of this very old place.
Just a man, a cane, and the slow satisfaction of bringing warmth back to dark places...
Until...
It's a-me, the developer! this was supposed to be a game about a story told in a castle, with shadows made by the people gatherer around the fire (chinese shadows-like), but... how to say it politely...... I am not skilled enough (yet), so, I had to scrap most of it and create something else. Working with light was much more difficult than expected. Well, I am well aware of the limitations of this demo and at least I hope you find the story uplifting enough.
